Personal-Best
Times a Theme for Penguins at the
Northeast Ohio Quad
Akron,
Ohio -- The Youngstown State
men's and women's track team posted
nine more personal-best times that
result in top-times in school
history following Friday and
Saturday's Northeast Ohio Quad
against Kent State, Akron, Buffalo,
and Ashland University.
On the men's side, five Penguins
etched their name into the school
record books.
Senior Mark
Lipinsky's sixth place time of 15.10
in the 110m hurdles ranks third in
school-history. Fellow senior J.R.
Hodge now ranks sixth all-time in
school-history following a sixth
place finish in the 100m dash with a
time of 10.79.
Junior Justin Dickman and sophomore
Jake Dialesandro ran personal-best
times in the 3,000m run. Dickman's
time of 9:06.80 ranks third at YSU,
while Dialesandro's time of 9:15.18
is good for fourth all-time.
In field events, sophomore John
Pallini claimed third place in the
shot put with a distance of 15.36m.
The mark ranks fourth-best in school
history. The
women also had a strong showing a
four Guins added their names to the
school's record book.
Junior Lauren
Blase finished the 3,000m in second
with a time of 10:08.69. Blase's
time ranks second all-time. Freshman
Jocelyn Steiner competed in the
3,000m steeplechase and finished in
fourth with a time of 13:06.40. That
time is good for seventh in
school-history.
Sophomore Amanda Carpin had a
personal-best day in the pole vault
clearing 3.10m to finish in fifth
and now ranks second all-time at
YSU. Junior Robyn Ray took third in
the triple jump with a personal-best
distance of 11.13m that ranks fourth
best in school-history.
Other top performers included
Breanne Romeo and Emily Wollet who
took second and third in the 400m.
Romeo ran a time of 57.45, while
Wollet crossed the finish line with
a time of 57.65.
Senior Darcelle Formby added two
fifth place finishes in the 100m and
200m dash. Formby ran a time of
12.56 in the 100m and a time of
25.90 in the 200m.
The
women finished in fourth at the
event with 87 points as Akron’s
women won the event scoring 223,
followed by
Kent
State and Buffalo with
158 and
Ashland with
19.
On the men’s side the Penguins
finished fifth with 38.5 as the Zips
scored 217.5 points to win, followed
by Kent
State
175.5, Buffalo
143.5 and
Ashland
43.
The Penguins will travel to Berea on Saturday to take part in
the Sparky Adams Invitational. |
