1987
A native of nearby Hubbard,
Ohio, Steve has been singled out by former head
baseball coach Dom Rosselli as one of the four best
pitchers to ever have pitched for the Penguins.
Toiling for the Penguins from 1969 to 1972, he is
still listed in the top-10 in 12 pitching
categories. During his four seasons under Rosselli,
he helped lead the Penguins to a combined 89-48
overall mark. In his first season (1969), the
Penguins’ 21-10 overall ledger was the first of
nine straight 20-victory seasons and 11 overall for
head coach Dom Rosselli. He was drafted by the
Detroit Tigers, moving up to their AA affiliate
before calling it a career in the mid-70’s. |
