Volleyball Earns Split On Day Two of
Kent State Invitational
Kent, Ohio --
The Youngstown State volleyball team
snapped a five-match losing steak
defeating Canisius, 30-16, 19-30,
30-19, 30-21, on Saturday afternoon
at the Kent State Invitational. The
Penguins lost earlier in the day to
Binghamton, 14-30, 21-30, 28-30.
Junior Ebony Barbosa was named to
the all-tournament team and paced
the Penguins with 15 kills and 15
digs against the Golden Griffs.
Senior Jessica Fraley also posted a
double-double with 15 kills and 19
digs and finished with a .343
hitting percentage.
Sophomore Ruth Boscaljon added 14
kills and six blocks while junior
Karla Everhart dished out 47 assists
and tallied 18 digs and four kills.
In the loss to Binghamton, Boscaljon
led the Penguins with 11 kills.
YSU opens Horizon League play
against Butler, Friday, Sept. 14, at
7 p.m. in Indianapolis, Ind.
