Penguins Hold Off Temple in Five-Game Victory

     Philadelphia, Pa. -- For just the second time in school history and the first time since 1981, the Youngstown State volleyball team has started a season 4-0 after holding off Temple in a five-game victory, 30- 27, 31-29, 19-30, 18-30, 15-8, on Saturday afternoon at McGonigle Hall.

    Senior Jessica Fraley led the Penguins with 13 kills and seven blocks while sophomore Ruth Boscaljon added 10 kills.

    Freshman Abigail Drost just missed a double-double with 9 kills and 12 digs while sophomore Allison Heinz tallied eight kills and eight blocks.

    Junior setter Karla Everhart posted 30 assists, six kills and seven digs while classmate Ebony Barbosa added nine kills and a team-high 17 digs.

    The Penguins take on UNC-Greensboro, Friday, Aug. 31, at 4 p.m. at the Robert Morris Invitational.
