Youngstown --
Youngstown State junior Ebony
Barbosa posted a double-double with
a team-high 16 kills and 17 digs and

(9-10, 3-5 Horizon League) to its
third straight win with a 30-20,
28-30, 30-28, 30-28 win over UIC on
Saturday afternoon at the Beeghly

.486 hitting percentage (17-0-35)
and were led by five kills from
Boscaljon and four from Barbosa.
With the game
tied at 18-18, YSU rattled off 12 of
the next 14 points for the decisive
victory.
UIC knotted
the match with a 30-28 decision in
game two but the Penguins hit just
.174 with seven hitting errors in
the second stanza.
In game three,
the Penguins led by as many as five
points, 18-13, and 25-21 before the
Flames rallied to take a 28-26 lead.
Kills by Karla Everhart and Allison
Heinz and two late hitting errors by
the Flames gave the Penguins a 30-28
victory.
Fraley and
Barbosa were almost unstoppable in
the fourth game recording eight and
six kills, respectively, to lead the
Penguins to the 30-28 win.
Trailing
25-24, a Barbosa kill and a block
from Heinz and Barbosa gave the
Penguins a 26-25 edge. With the game
tied at 27-27, a kill by Fraley and
a perfectly-place third hit by
libero Laurie Shives that hit the
line for just her second kill of the
season gave the Penguins a 29-27
lead.
After a UIC
kill, Fraley ended the match with
her 15th kill of the match.
