Men Finish 17th, Women 21st at NCAA Great Lakes Regional
Terre Haute, Ind. -- The Youngstown
State men's cross country team
earned the second-best finish in
program history with a 17th-place
finish at the NCAA Great Lakes
Regional on Saturday afternoon.
Tony Orcena ran a personal-best 10-kilometer time of 32
minutes, 40.6 seconds to lead the
men's team, which featured a team
gap of 25 seconds. His time
also earns him the fourth position
on YSU's all-time top performers
list.
Lisa Davies' 6-kilometer time of 21:56.8 led the women to a
21st-place finish, a six-place
improvement from last year.
Davies' 38th-place finish was the
second-best overall in school
history at the regional meet and the
top finish for a freshman.
Behind Orcena's 89th-place finish, Matt Paullin placed 98th
with a time of 32:55.6 while Nick
Buzek finished 106th in 33:01.5.
Kurt Michaelis placed 107th in
33:02.2 and Jeremy Riehm rounded out
the top five in 33:10.3.
On the women's side, Kim Jendre finished 117th with a time of
23:22.8 while Lindsay Wojciak placed
129th in 23:31.0. Jenn Wenhold
finished 141st with a time of
23:46.5 and Lindsay Frontz placed
145th in 23:51.1.
The Youngstown State indoor track and field season begins on
Dec. 5 at the Golden Flash Gala at
Kent State. |
