Marielle Glanz Earns Weekly Horizon League Honor
Indianapolis -- Youngstown State senior Marielle Glanz
(Liberty Center, Ohio) has been named the women's cross country Horizon League
Athlete of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday.
Glanz, the lone senior on the squad, was the top finisher for
the Penguins at the All-Ohio Championships on Friday afternoon. She was the
second Horizon League runner to cross the finish line with a 5K time of 20:34.1,
and she helped lead the Penguins past league opponents Wright State and
Cleveland State.
Glanz is the first YSU cross country athlete to earn the
Horizon League's weekly award this season and the first since Jeremy Riehm on
Oct. 12, 2004. Lisa Davis was the last women's athlete of the week on Oct. 22,
2003.
The Penguins will compete in the Falcon Invitational this
weekend in their final meet before the Horizon League Championship on Oct. 28. |
