Kruse Places 23rd; Women Show Big Improvement at Mel Brodt Invitational
Bowling Green, Ohio -- Youngstown State senior Nick Kruse
finished 23rd to lead the men's squad and every member of the women's team
improved from the season opening meet at Saturday's Mel Brodt Invitational.
Kruse completed the 8K course in 26:39.59 while freshman Lisa
Lee was the top finisher for the women with a 24th-place 5K time of 20:11.15.
Behind Kruse, R.D. Goodright placed 37th in 27:25.13, and
last week's top finisher for YSU Justin Dickman placed 41st in 27:28.46. J.D.
Sheppard finished 44th in 27:43.71, and Sean Finnerty finished 46th with a time
of 27:49.94.
On the women's side, Lee and every other scorer clocked in at
least one minute faster than the opener. Freshman Laura Yamsak finished 32nd
with a time of 21:01.18, and senior Marielle Glanz finished 33rd in 21:15.88.
Madelyn McGhee improved by more than three minutes with a 34th-place time of
21:19.53, and Jen Roman finished 35th in 21:25.88.
