ARTICLE I – PROCEDURE
The conduct of each meeting shall conform to a generally recognized Rule of Order procedure, the following being hereby adopted:
ARTICLE I – NAME
- The name of this organization shall be the Youngstown State University Student Chapter of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers.
ARTICLE II – OBJECTS
- The objects of this Chapter shall be (1) to promote the professional development of its members by its programs and by its relations with other Student Chapters and with the parent body, the American Institute of Chemical Engineers, and (2) to contribute to the development of chemical engineering at Youngstown State University through activities involving the faculty and student members.
- Any student enrolled in the Chemical Engineering Department at Youngstown State University shall be eligible for membership. Students interested in chemical engineering may be declared eligible to associate membership.
- To direct the activities of the chapter, the following officers and committee members shall serve for the entire calendar year: President, Vice-President, Treasurer, Secretary, Information Technology Representative, Junior Class Representative, and Sophomore Class Representative.
- 1. Election for the following calendar year of the officers listed in Article IV shall take place no later than the next to the last regular meeting of the spring semester.
- 2. Nominations for the President shall be by written ballot. Choice between the two candidates receiving the first and second largest number of nominating ballots shall then be made by written ballot. The remaining officers, excepting the Sophomore Class Representative, shall be elected by the same procedure in the order in which they are listed in Article IV. The Sophomore Class Representative shall be elected at the first regular meeting of the following school year.
- 3. Committees shall be appointed by the President.
- 4. Should a vacancy of the office of the president occur, his office will automatically be filled by the vice president.
- 5. All other vacancies in office shall be filled by presidential appointment with consultation by the student chapter advisor.
- Amendments to the Constitution may be proposed at any regular meeting by any member of the chapter.
- Adoption of the amendment shall be by the three-fourths vote of all members attending a later regular meeting, provided that such three-fourths majority shall include at least half the members of the chapter.
- One copy of the constitution and By-laws shall be in possession of the President of the Chapter.
- One copy of the Constitution and By-laws shall be in the possession of the Secretary of the Chapter.
- One copy of the Constitution and By-laws shall be in the possession of the Secretary of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers for the permanent files of the Institute.
- Each of the aforementioned officers shall promptly deliver his copy to his successor.

ARTICLE I – PROCEDURE
The conduct of each meeting shall conform to a generally recognized Rule of Order procedure, the following being hereby adopted:
- 1. The presiding officer shall call the meeting to order. All persons attending any meeting shall conduct themselves in a gentlemanly manner.
- 2. At a general business meeting which will be held monthly the presiding officer shall then:
- a) Ask for a treasurer’s report.
- b) Ask for reports from committees.
- c) The presiding officer shall decide whether or not there is a quorum present. A quorum shall be talk of all the paid members. No business will be conducted unless there is a quorum.
- d) Discuss and act on any old business.
- e) Discuss and act on any new business.
- 3. At a technical meeting the presiding officer shall:
- a) Introduce the speaker(s) or film(s).
- b) At the end of the scheduled event, the presiding officer will decide whether or not to hold a short business meeting.
- The President shall be the chief executive officer of the chapter, shall preside at all meetings, and shall serve as Chairman of the Program Committee and as an ex-officio member of all committees.
- The Vice-President shall assist the President in the performance of one’s duties and shall preside at meetings in the absence of the President.
- The Secretary shall keep a record of all meetings in parliamentary form. The Secretary shall prepare, obtain the written approval of the President for, and promptly submit all formal or informal reports.
- The Treasurer shall collect all dues and assessments promptly. He/she shall keep adequate financial records and permit their inspection by any other officer of the Chapter. He/she shall present a complete and final written report at the last meeting of each calendar year, and at that time he shall deliver to one’s successor all chapter records and funds in one’s possession. He/she shall preside at meetings of the chapter in the absence of the President and Vice-President.
- The Information Technology Representative shall be in charge of operating and maintaining the chapter website, as well as any other electronic domains belonging to the chapter. He/she will also provide assistance as needed with the attainment and use of technological devices for chapter functions.
- The Junior Class Representative and the Sophomore Class Representative shall assist in the dissemination of chapter information to their respective classes. They shall also in turn communicate with the other chapter officers to provide information representative of their respective classes.
- Only members who paid their dues 24 hours prior to voting shall be eligible to vote. The voting procedure shall be as follows: The voting will take place in the conference room. Only an officer or the advisor of the student chapter of the A.I.Ch.E. may preside over the actual voting procedure. Voting will be held during the next to last regular meeting. The person(s) presiding over the voting will be supplied by the Treasurer, with a complete list of paid members of the student chapter of the A.I.Ch.E. A member seeking to vote must first have one’s membership confirmed by the presiding officer. Then he/she must sign one’s name beside his/her name on the above mentioned list. Only after the member has done this will they be given a ballot. The member must mark one’s ballot and return the ballot to the appropriate place. The ballots will be counted at the end of the meeting and made public. The advisor and/or the President must be present to supervise the counting of the votes.
