Barbara
A. Peters Memorial Scholarship Barbara's daughter, Lori, became a Zeta Gamma member in 1983. Barbara assisted the Zeta Gamma chapter in many areas such as: purchasing needed fundraiser supplies, donating at Zeta Gamma charity events, and giving many goods through the Dairy Queen she owned for 32 years.
When the Youngstown alumnae chapter formed and charted in 1988, Barbara provided advice to the chapter, continued to donate, and gave her time providing chapter event assistance. Barbara enjoyed being with her daughter and friends as they searched for places to host craft shows, Zeta Day, and other fundraising events.
In 1991, it became very natural to nominate Barbara as a special initiate. Over 10 years, Barbara had given so much time, advice, and funds. Barbara was not only dedicated to ZTA, but she was also involved in many other endeavors. Barbara was the Treasurer and President of the Board of the Youngstown D and E Youth Clinic, actively involved in church activities, President of the regional Dairy Queen advertising committee, and much more. Barbara was also very creative. She made beautiful ceramic artwork and donated some of her artwork to ZTA charity auctions.
After becoming initiated in 1992, Barbara held the office of Treasurer
for many years before her passing. At the time of her passing in 1998,
Barbara was the Zeta Day co-chair. It was amazing how she never missed
a meeting or event because she enjoyed ZTA so much! Barbara was a huge
asset to the Youngstown Alumnae Chapter and she is sorely missed as a worker,
friend, sister and mother.
