The Office of Student Diversity Programs works collaboratively across the Youngstown State University campus to offer support and enhance programming and activities that build and nurture our campus and community within our broadly diverse population. Inasmuch as our campus is increasingly becoming more multilingual, multiethnic, multicultural, multi-religious and multiracial the Office of Student Diversity Programs will be programming with various student organizations/offices/agencies/publics to address the issues and special needs of these populations.

Recently, through collaboration with the Jewish Community Center staff and officers we began to pursue the development of a campus Student Jewish Council. To those ends we are seeking to gain the support and participation of all Jewish students with this effort. Interested parties are welcome to call, (330) 941-2086 or visit the Office of Student Diversity Programs, 2113 Kilcawley Center and find out more about this organization.

Student involvement is vital to the success of the promotion of diversity on our campus. This office is also interested in identifying other students who are interested in participating in a broad cross section of multilingual, multiethnic, multicultural, multi-religious and multiracial student groups and programs at YSU. Such student organizations include but are not limited to: African Student Union, The Brotherhood, D.R.E.A.M., International Student Organization, YSU Italian Club, the YSU Gospel Choir, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., Lebanese Student Association, Muslim Students Association (NPHC) National Pan Hellenic Council Protestant Campus Ministry, Student National Organization of Woman, SWAV/Sistas With A Vision, SAAB/Student African American Brotherhood, Black Student Union, National Society of Black Engineers, (YSU) Unity and Urban Dancers. Please feel free to inquire regarding these organizations and meetings are always open to the public.

The Office of Student Diversity Programs promotes student success through services and programs that will enhance academic, social, career and leadership development and co-curricular experiences at YSU. The key to success is to take advantage of the resources available on campus and in our community. The Office of Student Diversity Programs offers programs and services that will help students succeed and achieve their ultimate potential. To these ends there are two graduate students, an Engagement Coordinator and two Engagement Assistants that are available to work with you in our office. Each has written a brief notice about our Study Tables programming as indicated below:

Student Diversity Programs

Establishes Study Tables

I would like to inform the Youngstown State University student body that we are setting up study sessions in the Office of Student Diversity Programs. The purpose is to assist students in helping each other in particular courses and for them to meet one another. We have a mission to help all students, with emphasis on diverse populations, to become more involved in Youngstown State University with attention to both the academic and social programming that takes place on campus.   For African American males we are currently building an organization on campus called SAAB to help brothers on YSU campus know their purpose of being on the campus and establishing brotherhood amongst the African American male population on our campus. We extend to every African American male on our campus an invitation to join this organization because we are the people that make the difference on Youngstown State University campus. I am located in 2115 Kilcawley Center . You may contact me as follows: Thai31@yahoo.com or (330) 941-3161.   Ty-Juan Young Graduate Assistant Office of Student Diversity Programs
