Abrams
Electrical Engineering Technology Mahoning County CTC
Dave Abrams brings extensive experience to the Electrical Engineering
Technology course he's taught at the Mahoning County CTCsite since the
inception of the program in 1996. Mr. Abrams earned a Bachelor of Science
degree in industrial technology at Kent State University, and also holds
an Associate of Applied Science degree in electrical/electronic engineering
from KSU. Prior to joining the Tech Prep staff, he worked at American
Business Machines where his responsibilities included employee training.
Mr. Abrams has also taught electronics and AutoCAD at the technical college
level.
Brenda
Barton
Health Technology Choffin Career Center
Before joining the Tech Prep teaching staff, Brenda Barton worked for
eight years at Warren's St. Joseph Health Center - Eastland, where she
was a technical supervisor and medical technologist, and was responsible
for teaching medical laboratory technician students from Youngstown State
University. She also worked for three years as a medical laboratory technician
at Medical Center Hospital in Conroc, Texas. A graduate of YSU with a
Bachelor of Science degree in applied science, Ms. Barton is a certified
medical technologist, medical laboratory technologist, and emergency medical
technician - basic. In May 1998, her Health Technology team placed first
in state competition in the Allied Health category.
Steve
Bennett
Information Technology Mahoning County CTC
Steve Bennett graduated from Miami University with a bachelor's degree
in Business Administration. He worked for several years in the business
sector - as an NCR systems analyst working on operating systems and programming
in assembly language, an NCR account representative, and an NCR industry
analyst coordinating product release and development of future systems.
As president of Bentco, Inc., he developed and implemented a plan to offer
third party maintenance for retailers throughout the United States. Prior
to joining the Tech Prep staff, Mr. Bennett was a computer and business
communications teacher at Mahoning County JVS.
Michael
Dunn
Information Technology South Range High School
Michael Dunn attended Akron University and graduated from Youngstown State
University with a degree in Comprehensive Business Education. After graduation
in 1994, he was a business and computer instructor at West Geauga High
School and in 1996 became a business/computer teacher at Bloomfield High
School in North Bloomfield, Ohio. In 1998, he joined the teaching staff
at South Range High School where he is also the technology coordinator.
"I am very excited about teaching InformationTechnology this year. I believe
that the skills and knowledge the students receive in Tech Prep will be
a big asset for their future employment opportunities," he said.
Jennie
Mamula
Information Technology Choffin Career Center
Before joining the Tech Prep staff in the fall of 1999 at Choffin Career
Center, Jennie Mamula was a computer technology teacher at Ursuline High
School in Youngstown for seven years. Jennie attended The Ohio State University
and graduated from Youngstown State University with a Bachelor of Science
degree in Comprehensive Business Education. Prior to teaching, she was
employed for 11 years as a payroll auditor in the accounting department
at the General Motors Fabricating Plant. Jennie is excited to be a part
of the Tech Prep Information Technology program. "Tech Prep is a wonderful
opportunity for the students in the area to explore career options early,
and then be able to continue them at an accelerated rate at the college
level," she said.
Debra
Raney Phillips
Health Technology Mahoning County CTC
Prior to joining Tech Prep in 1996, Debra Phillips was a Medical Occupations
instructor at Mahoning County CTC. She has also served as a clinical instructor
at Kent State University and Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh,
and taught in the critical care skills lab at St. Elizabeth Health Center.
Other professional positions include work as a nurse specialist for a
perfusion company and as a staff instructor and nurse at Western Reserve
HealthCare System. Ms. Phillips earned a Master of Science in Nursing
degree at Case Western Reserve University and a Bachelor of Science in
Nursing degree from Pennsylvania State University. She also holds a vocational
education certificate from Kent State University. In 1993 she was included
in Who's Who in American Nursing.
