YSU looks for ways to accommodate students holding veteran and current military status. In that vein, we offer you the opportunity to enroll in classes for veterans and current military personnel only. The classes meet several GER requirements for both baccalaureate and associate degrees and also fulfill the requirement for students transferring to YSU.
These are closed classes and to register, verification of your military service, past or current, must be on file with the Office of Veteran Affairs, Room 310, Tod Hall.You may also drop off your documentation at the Office of the Vice President for Student Affairs, Room 141, Tod Hall. Be sure to include your YSU patron ID number and a note stating the classes you wish to register for. Once documentation is recorded, a permit will be issued for you to enroll.
YSU agrees to waive any change of registration fees associated with changing your current registration to include this class. If you have questions regarding the process, please contact Jim Olive at the numbers or e mail listed on our home page.
The premise to form such classes is to build upon the special relationships formed in military service and to bring that experience to the college classroom. Depending upon the numbers who enroll, we hope to offer more veteran only classes in other subjects in future semesters, perhaps including a full first-year curriculum for veterans. Course instructors will be chosen from those who express a specific interest in teaching veterans and military personnel, and will typically be veterans themselves.
