Honors Program

If you’re the kind of student who wants to dig deeper, take on challenges, and ask big questions, you might be a candidate for Youngstown State University’s Honors program.
Honors classes and seminars are available in all colleges to all majors, and qualified students may take Honors classes or may apply to enroll in the Honors program. If accepted into the program, you have the option of living in Cafaro House, the honors residence. Successful completion of the program will earn you an Honors diploma. It’s the kind of credential that will open many doors for you.

Brittany Vlaiku started this fall as a University Scholar. Scholars are automatically part of the Honors Program, but you do not have to be a University Scholar to enroll in Honors.

And Youngstown State University, faculty are in the classroom—up close in small classes (average class size is 22), in person (not on a video screen), and available to answer your questions. It’s what current students and graduates say most often about YSU: the faculty are there for students, committed to students’ education, and ready to assist and advise every step of the way.

Kin P. Moy brought more than three decades of international industry experience with him when he retired from Packard Electric Systems of Delphi Corporation to join the YSU faculty in electrical engineering technology. Since coming to YSU, he continues to work closely with industry to stay on top of the latest technology.

“Since I have traveled widely to work with engineers from many different countries during my 32 years in the industry, I am able to share my experience with my students from a global prospective.”
