Youngstown State University offers high-quality education at an affordable cost. But the best part is that you can get all kinds of financial assistance to help you get where you’re going. A few examples of what you’ll find in YSU’s scholarship drawer:

• Scholarships for Excellence—based on academic performance in high school. Awards range from full-ride University Scholars awards (about $13,000/year) to awards of $4,500, $2,500, $2,000, and $1,500 a year, based on ACT or SAT scores and high school rank or GPA. The University awards these scholarships to incoming students; the awards are renewed each year you maintain your academic performance at YSU, up to four years.

• Literally hundreds of private-donor scholarships are available in smaller amounts. Search the offerings at www.ysu.edu/finaid.

• The Martin Luther King Achievement Awards are given to students from 18 area high schools. These scholarships of up to $1,500 a year are awarded on the basis of financial need.

• A need-based Housing Grant provides up to $2,000 a year for eligible students who wish to enjoy all the benefits of living on campus.
