Welcome to the Youngstown Early College (YEC) web site. This site provides you with the opportunity to explore YEC and learn more about this innovative program.

It is the first one of its kind at an Ohio public university, assisted initially by the KnowledgeWorks and Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.

Youngstown Early College is collaboration between the Youngstown City School District and Youngstown State University and will allow students who have traditionally been excluded from post-secondary educational opportunities to obtain college credits while still attending high school. Faculty and support staff from both institutions work closely together as an instructional team in this partnership. Our staff is dedicated to providing the necessary instruction and support to assure student success at the YEC and at Youngstown State University. Our educational community, marked with a family-type atmosphere, exemplifies the philosophy that “The success of one is success for us all.”

It is our goal to develop young men and women who will become contributors, not only to Youngstown, but also to the world.
