I
was born in Youngstown in 1951 and I have been a
lifelong resident of Youngstown. I attended school
in the Youngstown City School District. I attended
Covington Elementary School (Martin Luther King)
and Jefferson Elementary School, Hayes Jr. High,
and The Rayen School. I graduated in 1969. At that
time I attended Youngstown State University for
two quarters and was hired by Ohio Bell/AT&T
in 1970 and worked there until 1990.
In 1991, I returned
to Youngstown State University seeking a degree
in Education. This was an effort to fulfill my desire
to contribute more back to the community. I graduated
from Youngstown State University in 1993 with a
Bachelor of Science degree in elementary education.
I worked in the Youngstown City School District
from 1993 until 1996. I worked in the Warren City
School District as a building principal from 1996
through 2004.
I received my master’s
degree in administration from Youngstown State University
and I currently hold certification to be a superintendent
in the state of Ohio and certification to be a principal
in the state of Ohio. I am also enrolled in the
doctoral program in the Youngstown State University
School of Education.
