The Youngstown State University Foundation works on both a non-endowed and endowed basis. Non-endowed scholarships will cease to exist when the donor stops funding them. While taking longer to build significance, endowed scholarships live forever. The Foundation will be pleased to assist you in all aspects of providing scholarships at Youngstown State University.

In the idea-forming stage of the process,
it is important to keep the following things in mind:

• Name of the scholarship
• Purpose for establishing the scholarship
• Eligibility requirements
  • Will there be a minimum grade point average?
  • Will it be for a specific area of study?
  • Will it be need based?
  • Will it be based on residency? County or State?
  • Will it be for first year students, higher, or both?
• Will the scholarship be renewable?
  • If yes, what will criteria be to renew?
  • How many years will it be renewable?

If you or your group can agree on criteria, you are well on your way to providing a scholarship for today's students.
