University
Scholars
Now in
its 16th year, the University Scholars program recognizes
academic excellence with awards of full tuition and room and
board for four years if high level of excellence is maintained.
A composite ACT score of 30 is a minimum entrance requirement.
To continue in the program, students must maintain a GPA of
3.5 or higher. With the help of the Foundation, University
Scholars have enrolled in graduate, law and medical programs
at such notable universities as Ohio State, Duke, University
of Pennsylvania, University of Chicago, Texas A&M, Georgia
Tech and University of Washington. Others have gone on to
work for Fortune 500 companies.
Financial
Aid Programs (Scholarships)
Scholarships
for Excellence - The General Scholarship Program
is designed to attract and retain highly qualified academic
students to YSU. Entering freshman students receive awards
based upon class standing and ACT scores. Upperclass students
receive awards soley on cumulative grade point averages at
YSU.
Designated
Scholarships - These scholarships are designed by
individuals to honor a loved one and/or to assist students
in a particular field of study.
Business
Scholarships - Many businesses have elected to fund
a portion of the tuition of their employees or of their employees'
children by making a donation to the Foundation equal to the
amount of tuition credit desired.
Academic
Enchancement Programs
By funding
various lectures, academic chairs and visiting artists, the
Foundation helps to sustain the academic interest of YSU students.
Several graduation awards are also part of this program.
Physical
Assistance Programs
The Foundation
has assisted in acquiring property and buildings for YSU.
The Foundation is the guarantor of the University
Courtyard apartments.
