Penguins' Volleyball Signs Three Players to 2009 Squad

Youngstown -- A setter, an outside hitter and a middle blocker have signed a National Letter of Intent to continue their academic and volleyball careers at Youngstown State University, YSU head volleyball coach Joe Bonner announced.
Angie Roidt (McFarland, Wis.), Suzanne Lassiegne (Virginia Beach, Va.) and Martina Davis (Penn Hills, Pa.) will also join the Penguins’ for the 2009 season. Release

Flames Rally Twice, Hold on For Five-Set Win to Eliminate Guins

Cleveland -- No. 8 UIC rallied late in two sets and used a big run in the deciding fifth set to eliminate ninth-seeded Youngstown State in the first round of the Horizon League Volleyball Championship on Thursday evening.
The Flames scored the seven final points in the first set (20-25), took six of the final seven in the third set (25-21) and went on a 10-3 run to close out the final set (15-10). Release | Stats   
Seniors Have Strong Showing in Final Match at Beeghly   
Youngstown -- Youngstown State senior Ebony Barbosa had her fourth straight double-double, and fellow senior Karla Everhart had six kills and 34 assists as the pair played their final home match against Cleveland State on Friday evening.
Barbosa finished with 13 kills and 13 digs and scored a match-high 15.5 points as the Penguins fell in four sets (25-22, 20-25, 14-25, 22-25). Release | Stats

Youngstown -- The Youngstown State volleyball team will host in-state rival Cleveland State on Friday at 7 p.m. at the Beeghly Center in the regular-season finale for both teams.
YSU seniors Ebony Barbosa and Karla Everhart will be honored prior to the match in what will be their final home contest. Release   
O'Hara's 16 Kills Not Enough as Guins Fall Short at UWM

Milwaukee, Wis. -- Youngstown State's Kaitlin O'Hara tied a career-high with 16 kills, but Milwaukee used 12 aces and a balanced attack to defeat the Penguins in four sets on Saturday.
Ebony Barbosa chipped in with 11 kills and 10 digs for YSU while Maddie Sueppel had 16 kills for league-leading UWM. Release | Stats
