Tiara Scott Named to Horizon League Preseason Second-Team

Youngstown -- Youngstown State senior forward Tiara Scott has been named to the Horizon League Preseason Second-Team, the league announced on Friday in conjunction with the preseason poll.
Scott was a second-team all-conference player a year ago and was also named to the all-newcomer team.
YSU was picked to finish ninth in the preseason poll of the league's coaches, women's basketball sports information contacts and a media representative from each market.
In her first year at YSU after transferring from Western Nebraska Community College, Scott ranked fifth in the league in scoring and sixth in rebounding in conference contests. She also finished fourth in field goal percentage, 11th in free throw percentage and 13th in blocks. Scott averaged 15 points and 6.6 rebounds in Horizon League games.
Overall she scored 13.1 and grabbed 6.5 rebounds per game, which ranked 12th and fifth, respectively.
YSU's Heather Karner was named to the preseason second-team last season.
Reigning Horizon League Player of the Year Traci Edwards was picked to repeat as the league's top player. She was joined on the first team by Kailey Klein (Cleveland State), Shey Peddy (Wright State), Lade Akande (Butler) and Rachel Porath (Green Bay).
Lavesa Glover (Green Bay), Agnieszka Kulaga (Valparaiso), Jessie Miller (UIC) and Susan Lester (Butler) joined Scott on the second team.
In the preseason poll, defending regular-season champion Green Bay earned 24 first-place votes and 284 points to be tabbed as the favorite. Wright State was picked second with 241 points and one first-place vote, Milwaukee received 240 points and two first-place votes to finish third, and tournament champion Cleveland State picked up one first-place vote and 228 points to finish fourth.
Butler was predicted to finish fifth, Valparaiso was picked sixth, UIC was seventh, Loyola was eighth and Detroiti was 10th.
