Tiara Scott Named to Horizon League Preseason Second-Team
Youngstown -- Youngstown
State senior forward Tiara Scott has
been named to the Horizon League
Preseason Second-Team, the league
announced on Friday in conjunction
with the preseason poll.
Scott was a second-team all-conference player a year ago and
was also named to the all-newcomer
team.
YSU was picked to finish ninth in the preseason poll of the
league's coaches, women's basketball
sports information contacts and a
media representative from each
market.
In her first year at YSU after transferring from Western
Nebraska Community College, Scott
ranked fifth in the league in
scoring and sixth in rebounding in
conference contests. She also
finished fourth in field goal
percentage, 11th in free throw
percentage and 13th in blocks. Scott
averaged 15 points and 6.6 rebounds
in Horizon League games.
Overall she scored 13.1 and grabbed 6.5 rebounds per game,
which ranked 12th and fifth,
respectively.
YSU's Heather Karner was named to the preseason second-team
last season.
Reigning Horizon League Player of the Year Traci Edwards was
picked to repeat as the league's top
player. She was joined on the first
team by Kailey Klein (Cleveland
State), Shey Peddy (Wright State),
Lade Akande (Butler) and Rachel
Porath (Green Bay).
Lavesa Glover (Green Bay), Agnieszka Kulaga (Valparaiso),
Jessie Miller (UIC) and Susan Lester
(Butler) joined Scott on the second
team.
In the preseason poll, defending regular-season champion
Green Bay earned 24 first-place
votes and 284 points to be tabbed as
the favorite. Wright State was
picked second with 241 points and
one first-place vote, Milwaukee
received 240 points and two
first-place votes to finish third,
and tournament champion Cleveland
State picked up one first-place vote
and 228 points to finish fourth.
Butler was predicted to finish fifth, Valparaiso was picked
sixth, UIC was seventh, Loyola was
eighth and Detroiti was 10th.
