Youngstown Historical Center of Industry and Labor presents events

The month of November is a busy one for the Youngstown Historical Center of Industry and Labor, as it will host three events over a 12-day period.

It all begins on successive Saturdays, Nov. 5 and Nov. 12, when in commemoration of Veterans’ Day, the Steel Museum will host the exhibit “Steel Town Goes to War,” which pays tribute to local people and firms who contributed to World Wars I and II.

The exhibit, which is free to all veterans and their families and $1 off of admission for other visitors, runs from noon until 4 p.m. both Saturdays.

The Steel Museum is closed on Nov. 11 in observance of Veterans’ Day.

This coming Monday, Nov. 7, the eve of the national election, the Center for Working Class Studies welcomes Justin Gest, author of The New White Working Class Politics in an Age of Immigration and Inequality.

The event is free. Refreshments are available at 6 p.m., with the program at 6:30 p.m.

Lastly, on Nov. 17, the Steel Museum rounds out the month by hosting an Historical Editing Workshop sponsored by Americorps Ohio.

The free workshop will be taught by Diane Barnes, a professor of History at YSU who worked as associate editor on the Frederick Douglass Papers as well as assistant editor on the Papers of Thomas Jefferson.

For all three events, parking is available for a nominal fee at the museum. For more information, www.ohiohistory.org/Youngstown or call 330-941-1314.
